১৯৩৭ সালের নভেম্বরে জাপানের হিরোশিমার কুরে ড্রাই-ডকে শুরু হয় বিধ্বংসী ইয়ামাতো যুদ্ধজাহাজের নির্মাণ কাজ। ৮৬২ ফুট দৈর্ঘ্য ও ১২৭ ফুট প্রস্থের ইয়ামাতো ছিল বিশ্বের সবচেয়ে বড় যুদ্ধজাহাজ। ৭০ হাজার টন ওজনের জাহাজটির ড্রাফট ছিলো ৩৭ ফুট।
In November 1937, construction of the super battleship Yamato began at Kure Dry-dock in Hiroshima, Japan. At 862 feet long and 127 feet wide, the Yamato was the largest battleship in the world. The draft of the 70 thousand ton ship was 37 feet.
