Here, Sadhguru is explaining the science of Bhrigu Samhita, which is used to predict people's future.
Sadhguru: Bhrigu was one of the first seven disciples of Siva, the Saptarishis. To express their devotion and reverence to Shiva, it was the daily rule for all of them to perform three pradakshina around Shiva. Bhrigu was an ardent devotee of Shiva and had the utmost right towards Shiva. One day he thought, "Why should I circle around Parvati? What do I have to do with his wife? I have to worship Shiva only." So he asked Parvati to move away.
Parvati was very angry and refused. So Bhrigu took the form of a small bird and kept Lord Shiva's pradakshina outside. Shiva was watching this funny situation, but Parvati was very angry to see that Bhrigu was just praising Shiva.
To see what Bhrigu does next, Shiva seated Parvati in his lap, leaving no difference between them. Then Bhrigu took the form of a bharana and while doing pradakshina around Shiva's head then left Parvati out. Parvati's anger now increased, "What the hell is this?" Shiva was enjoying this drama. Then they took Parvati inside themselves, formed a part of themselves and they both became one. Shiva left half of his life and joined Parvati and became Ardhanarishvara. So Bhrigu stayed in the form of a bharana and made a hole and again only praised Shiva. Now Parvati became furious and cursed Bhrigu, "May your body perish, far away from Shiva's presence, you will not be able to walk even one step, you should be like this".
All the muscles of Bhrigu were destroyed and his body remained only a structure of skin and bones. They could not even stand. Shiva then intervened and said to Parvati, "What have you done? They are a devotee, and the devotees are mad. They were not doing all this to insult you. If you had just told them that, "I am also Shiva", so he would have been shining you. Why did you have to do all this? "
But now it was too late, and they could do nothing. So Shiva gave Bhrigu a third leg so that he could stand. As you can see outside some special Shiva temples, there will be an image of a three-legged man, a tripod. This third leg was not just for standing, it became a leg so that they could get an understanding of the three worlds. It is a symbolic foot.
