カンボジア🇰🇭シェムリアップ編
今までで最高の一人旅になった。
カンボジアは初めての経験ばかりだった。
トゥクトゥク、クメール料理、カンボジア人、昆虫食、素晴らしい旅に涙したこと…
カンボジアの平均月収は2万円らしい。日本は38万円。
約20倍の差があるのに、物価は日本の1/3から半分といったところ。
トゥクトゥクもマーケットでの買い物も、観光客には多少盛っていると思うけど、それでいいと思った。
ガイドブックには「値段交渉を楽しんで」と書いてあるし、出会った日本人からも「粘って何ドルにしてもらえた」という話も聞いた。それがいいことなのか分からなかったし、いくら値下げできたかについて興味もなかった。
我々の1ドルと彼らの1ドルの価値はどれくらい違うんだろうか？と考えずにはいられなかった。
貧乏旅が好きだし、安くなるんだったらそりゃありがたい。でも、大好きになったこの国の発展を願っていることと、この国でお金を使わないようにしていることは矛盾しているのでは？と、なんだかモヤモヤしてしまった。
もしかしたら傍目には多少ぼったくられていたかもしれないけど、それでも十分に安く、そして何より素晴らしい旅をさせてもらえた。
私にとってシェムリアップでの経験には提示された額の何倍もの価値があったと思っている。

It was the best solo trip I have ever taken.
Cambodia was all new to me.
Tuk-tuks, Khmer food, Cambodians, insect eating, tears of wonderful travel...
The average monthly income in Cambodia seems to be 20,000 yen. Japan is 380,000 yen.
The difference is about 20 times, but the cost of living is about 1/3 to half of that in Japan.
Tuk-tuks and shopping at the market are a bit overpriced for tourists, but I thought that was fine.
The guidebook says, “Enjoy bargaining,” and some Japanese I met told me that they were able to get a good price for their dollar by being persistent. I didn't know if that was a good thing, and to be honest, I didn't really want to hear it.
How much difference is the value of a dollar for us and a dollar for them? I couldn't help but think.
I like to travel in poverty, and I would appreciate it if it were cheaper. But isn't there a contradiction between wishing for the development of this country that I have come to love and not spending money here? I was somewhat bewildered.
I may have been ripped off a bit, but it was still cheap enough, and more importantly, I had a wonderful trip.
For me, the experience in Siem Reap was worth many times more than the price I was offered.
