This is "Kassen" by the Hamamatsu Shugakusha High School Japanese Drum Club, which was performed at the Shidara "Hikarisasu" Hamamatsu Performance held at the Hamamatsu City Welfare Exchange Center on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 (National Holiday). Shidara is a professional creative Japanese drum group based in Oku-Mikawa, Aichi Prefecture, a treasure trove of traditional performing arts. A few years ago, they performed Japanese drums at an art appreciation event at the school. "Hikarisasu" is a social performance by Shidara, created together with local drum groups and citizens to bring sunlight to "festivals," "cultural and artistic activities," and "community development." In addition to the Hamamatsu Shugakusha High School Japanese Drum Club, the Tenryu High School Japanese Drum Club and the Yokosuka High School Folk Performing Arts Club also performed in this Hamamatsu performance. The Hamamatsu Shugakusha High School Japanese Drum Club is made up of a total of 13 members, including six first-year high school students and seven second-year high school students. A Japanese drum group called "Waon" was also formed by graduates, and they practice Japanese drums every day together with their seniors. The song "Battle" that was performed this time was composed by a graduate, and is based on the "Battle of Mikatagahara" and "Enshu Dainenbutsu" that took place in Hamamatsu City. They have practiced repeatedly so that they can express the intensity of the life-risking battle through Japanese drums. We tried hard to convey the image of comrades who survived a fierce battle encouraging their comrades for tomorrow and courageously taking on the next battle.
