Αν και οι περισσότεροι γνωρίζουν τον Σταυρό ως καλοκαιρινό προορισμό για μπάνια, το Στρατονικό όρος ⛰️ που βρίσκεται ακριβώς από πάνω του προσφέρεται και για ορειβατικές δραστηριότητες.
Στόχος της πεζοπορίας μας ήταν η κορυφή Σουγλιάνι στα 859μ. υψόμετρο. Υπήρχε κρύο φυσιολογικό για Ιανουάριο μήνα και αρκετή ομίχλη 🌫️ που έκανε το τοπίο πολλές φορές απόκοσμο και δεν μας επέτρεψε να δούμε τη θέα στον Στρυμονικό κόλπο.
Όμως λίγο μετά τα 500 μέτρα υψόμετρο συναντήσαμε και χιόνι ❄️ που υπήρχε από τις χιονοπτώσεις των προηγούμενων ημερών, που όσο ανεβαίναμε γινόταν και περισσότερο. Αυτό το γεγονός απαίτησε λίγο παραπάνω προσοχή και προσπάθεια, ωστόσο στο τέλος κατακτήθηκε και αυτή η κορυφή!
Η επιστροφή έγινε από άλλη διαδρομή και ιδιαίτερα στα τελευταία χιλιόμετρα κινούμασταν σε πλατανόδασος 🌳 δίπλα σε ρυάκια.
Η σήμανση του μονοπατιού είναι εξαιρετική και για αυτό αξίζουν συγχαρητήρια στον τοπικό Φυσιολατρικό Ορειβατικό Σύλλογο Σταυρού.

Although most people know Stavros as a summer destination for swimming, the Stratoni mountain ⛰️ which is located directly above it is also ideal for mountaineering activities.
The goal of our hike was the summit of Sougliani at an altitude of 859m. There was cold normal for January month and a lot of fog 🌫️ which made the landscape sometimes eerie and did not allow us to see the view of the Strymonikos Gulf.
However, shortly after 500 meters of altitude we also encountered snow ❄️ that was present from the snowfall of the previous days, which became more and more as we climbed. This fact required a bit more attention and effort, but in the end this peak was conquered!
The return was by another route and especially in the last kilometers we were moving in plantain forest 🌳 next to streams.
The marking of the trail is excellent and for this the local Naturalist Mountaineering Club of Stavros deserves congratulations.
