Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding leader and the first President of Bangladesh, was assassinated on August 15, 1975, in a military coup. He was killed along with most of his family members at his residence in Dhaka. The assassination was carried out by a group of junior military officers. His death led to a period of political instability in Bangladesh, and it remains a tragic and significant event in the country's history.
