Panch Badri (Badrinath, Bhavishya, Yog Dhyan Vridha & Yog Dhyan Badri) is a five sacred Hindu temples dedicated to Vishnu. Panch Badri Temples are located in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand. Panch Badri yatra is important pilgrimage destination for Hindus. Each of the five temples has its own stories & myths associated with it. Thesee 5 temples are :
- Badrinath : Badrinath is most popular among the Panch Badri. Badrinath Temple is situated in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Badrinath is located on the bank of river Alaknanda. It is believed to be the place where Lord Vishnu meditated for several years.
Yog-Dhyan Badri: Yog Dhyan Badri is located at Pandukeshwar village of Chamoli. Pandukeshwar is 24 kms from Badrinath. This Temple is the place where the Pandavas, performed penance to seek the blessings of Lord Vishnu.
Bhavishya Badri: Bhavishya Badri is situated some 12 kms from Tapovan. Bhavishya Badri mean's future's Badrinath. It is belived that in future the roads to Badrinath will be blocked and then this is the place where lord Vishnu will be worshipped.
Vridha Badri: Vridha Badri is located in the Animath which is on Joshimath highway. It is believed that Lord Vishnu gave darshna ti lord Ganesha here as an old man. And that's how this place came to known as Vridha Badri.
Adi Badri: Adi Badri is a group of 16 small temples located ion Gairsain road. Adi Badri is 17 kms from Karnaprayag. Karnprayag is among Panch Prayag of Uttarakhand. Adi Badri originally had 16 temples but now 2 temples have been destroyed.
