Punjab University Library Book Club Hosts Enlightening Introductory Talks
Punjab University Library Book Club organized an insightful program featuring introductory talks on two thought-provoking books: "Nonviolent Communication" by Marshall B. Rosenberg and "برطانوی استعماریت ، نوآبادیات، ردنوآبادیت اور جدیدیت کامطالعہ" (British Colonialism: Neo-colonialism, De-neo-colonialism, and Modernism - A Study) by Muhammad Akmal. The event brought together students, faculty members, and book enthusiasts for a stimulating intellectual exchange.
The session on "Nonviolent Communication" was conducted by Dr. Tayyeb Ali Khan, Assistant Professor at the Institute of Administrative Sciences, Punjab University. He eloquently explored the principles of empathetic communication as outlined by Rosenberg, emphasizing how compassionate dialogue can resolve conflicts and build meaningful connections. Dr. Tayyeb’s analysis resonated deeply with the audience, inspiring reflection on communication practices in both personal and professional spheres.
Meanwhile, the discussion on the Urdu book, "Bartanavi Istamariyat", was led by Dr. Shahzeb Khan, Associate Professor at the Institute of English Language and Literature, Punjab University. His presentation delved into the complexities of colonialism, neo-colonialism, and modernism, as critically examined by Muhammad Akmal. Dr. Shahzeb contextualized the historical narrative within contemporary socio-political frameworks, provoking a lively debate among participants about the legacy of colonialism in South Asia.
The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where attendees actively participated, posing insightful questions and sharing their interpretations of the themes discussed. The Chief Librarian, Dr. Muhammad Haroon Usmani, expressed gratitude to the speakers and attendees for making the event a remarkable success, fostering a culture of reading and critical thinking
