Teodor Currentzis, a famous conductor of Greek origin working in Russia, staged Mozart’s opera "Idomeni" at the famous Salzburg Festival together with opera director Peter Sellars. Some critics declared it genius, others - tore to smithereens.
Before the festival, Currentzis went on a tour of Germany, performing Symphony No. 7 of Shostakovich, also known as “Leningradskaya” with the German orchestra SWR. This name was given to symphony by the poetess Anna Akhmatova.
