Munakata Taisha is a Shinto shrine located in Munakata City, Fukuoka Prefecture.
Okinoshima is designated as a sacred precinct, and many of the offerings from ancient rituals unearthed on Okinoshima have been designated as national treasures, and many of them can be seen in the Shinpokan.
It was registered as a World Cultural Heritage site in 2017 as one of the constituent assets of the "Sacred Island" Okinoshima and Related Heritage Sites in Munakata.
