Today's video is about overwintering and winter care for Colocasia esculenta, the big leaved Elephant Ears plants (known as Taro or Eddoes in Asia) that I use for that jungle effect alongside cannas, bannas, grasses and tree ferns in my UK tropical style garden. I go through the winter care required for other varieties including the hardy 'Pink China', the more tender black and colourful varieties and why I think it's easy to dry store Colocasia esculenta. I've overwintered them before as a houseplant but in warmer summers they definitely get big so dry storing them seems to be a reliable method of keeping these plants for next summer without taking up loads of room. As always, if you want to know any more then just leave a comment and I'll get back to you, thanks. 0:00 Intro 0:36 Colocasia 'Pink China' & esculenta varieties for UK Gardens 2:32 Colocasia growing in my UK Tropical Style Garden 4:06 Can Colocasia esculenta be overwintered in the ground? 5:45 Can Colocasia esculenta be overwintered in a just frost-free polytunnel or greenhouse? 6:20 Colocasia winter care as a houseplant 7:45 When to bring in Colocasia esculenta Elephant Ears plants for winter 8:50 Digging up & Overwintering Colocasia esculenta 10:17 Preparing and dry storing Colocasia esculenta over winter If you've enjoyed my content and would like to say thanks for the price of a coffee then please head over to my Ko-fi, any kind donations would be appreciated and put towards creating more exciting content: https://ko-fi.com/georgesjunglegarden Thanks, George
