උතුරු ඉන්දියාවේ නිරුවතින් සිටින පුද්ගල කණ්ඩායමක් බොහෝමයක් සිටියි. වර්ධමාන මහාවීර එහෙමත් නැත්නම් නිඝණ්ඨනාථ පුත්ත නමින් හැඳින්වෙන ශාස්තෘවරයාගේ ශ්‍රාවකයන් වෙන ඒ පිරිස හඳුන්වන්නේ ජෛන එහෙමත් නැත්නම් නිඝණ්ඨ යන නමින්. වසර දහස් ගනනක් ගත වුවද ඉන්දියාව තුල ජෛන ආගම අදටත් නොනැසී පවතියි. ගෞතම බුදුන්ගේ සමකාලීනයෙක් වූ වර්ධමාන මහාවීර ජෛන ආගම නිර්මාණය කලේ නැත. ඔහු විසින් සිදු කලේ කලින් පැවති දර්ශනයක් ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණයකට ලක් කිරීමයි. අවුරුදු දොළහක කාලයක් වර්ධමාන මහාවීර ආහාර සිඟමින්, එකිනෙකා සමඟ වාද විවාද කරමින්, විවිධ වූ දුෂ්කර ක්‍රියාවල යෙදෙමින් තැනින් තැන ඇවිද ගියේය. මුල්ම කාලයේ ඔහුට ඇඳීමට තිබුනේ එකම රෙදි කඩකි. ඔහු එය කිසිදා මාරු නොකලේය. එනමුත් ටික කලක් ගිය විට ඔහු එම රෙදි කඩද ඉවත දමා නිර්වස්ත්‍රව සිටීමට තීරණය කලේය. දිගම්බරයන් විසූ වර්තමාන මයිසෝරිය හා දකුණු හයිදරාබාද ප්‍රදේශය හා ශ්වේතාම්බරයන් විසූ ගුජරාත් හා රාජස්ථානය යන ප්‍රදේශයයි. ලංකාවේත් පණ්ඩුකාභය රජතුමා ජෝතිය, ගිරි, කුම්භාණ්ඩ කියන නිඝණ්ඨයන්ට ආරාම තනවලා දුන් බව මහාවංසයේ වගේම සාහිත්‍ය මූලාශ්‍රය කීපයකම දැක්වෙනවා. එයින් එක් ආරාමයක් වුණු ගිරි නිඝණ්ඨයාගේ ආරාමය බිඳවලා වළගම්බා රජතුමා අභයගිරි ස්ථූපය නිර්මාණය කරන කතාව අහලා ඇතිනේ.
ජෛන දහම නිසා අවිහිංසාවාදය කියන සංකල්පය ඉදිරිපත් වුණා වගේම ඒ හැරෙන්න එවකට භාරතීය සමාජයේ තිබුණු කුල භේදය, නිරර්ථක බිලි පූජා ආදිය, කාන්තා නිදහස අවම වීම වැනි කරුණුවලට එරෙහිව කරුණු ඉදිරිපත් වුණා කියන එක දක්වන්න පුලුවන්.
ඒ වගේමයි මහාවීරයන්ගේ චරිතයේ බොහෝ සිදුවීම් බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේගේ චරිතය තුළත් දැකගන්න ලැබීම වගේම ජෛන දහමෙන් ඉගැන්වුණු යම් යම් කරුණු කාරණා බුදු දහම තුළත් සාකච්ඡා වී තිබීමත් එක්ක ජෛන දහම සහ බුදු දහමේ තිබෙන සබඳතාවක් ගැනත් කරුණු කතා කෙරෙනවා.

He has heard the story of King Varagamba destroying the monastery of Giri Nighanta, which was one of the monasteries, and creating the Abhayagiri Stupa.
Because of Jainism, the concept of non-violence was presented and apart from that, it can be shown that facts were presented against the caste division, pointless sacrifices, etc., and the reduction of women's freedom in the Indian society at that time.
