茨城県かすみがうら市にある「うなぎ村」ではうなぎの取れない時期になるとアメリカナマズを捕獲し、料理して提供しています。このアメリカナマズは霞ヶ浦で大繁殖し、人の手では抑えきれないほどの猛攻を続けており、駆除作戦としても有意義な漁となっています。そのナマズは「黄金なまず」と銘打たれ、『土浦カレーフェスタ』で優勝する商品にもなっています。

In Kasumigaura City, Ibaraki Prefecture, Unagi Mura catches American catfish, cooks them, and serves them when eels are unavailable. These American catfish have multiplied in Lake Kasumigaura and continue to attack so ferociously that they cannot be controlled by human hands, making this a useful fishing method for extermination. The catfish are called "Golden Catfish" and have been the winning product at the Tsuchiura Curry Festival.
