Petro Doroshenko (1627–1698) – Hetman of the Zaporizhian Army, whose rule fell during the peak of the Cossack wars, the apogee of the so-called Ruin period (from 1665 to 1676). Unlike his predecessors, between the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Moscow Tsardom, he made his choice in favor of… the Ottoman Empire, with whose help he sought to win the unity and independence of the Hetmanate. For a certain period, Doroshenko's efforts were successful – he managed to unite the Right Bank and Left Bank under his authority. However, the results of Doroshenko's hetmanship proved far from his expectations.
