2018年4月17日、サウスウエスト航空1380便がペンシルベニア州上空を飛行中、左エンジンが破損。窓ガラスが割れ、パイロットは緊急降下を行います。ダラス・ラブフィールド空港へ着陸する予定でしたが、目的地を変更し、フィラデルフィア国際空港へダイバートしました。

機長は元戦闘機パイロット所属（元アメリカ海軍少佐）でF-18も経験していました。1994年にサウスウエスト航空に入社し、ボーイング737の総飛行時間は10,513時間というベテランパイロットでした。
