આમલકી એકાદશીમાં ભગવાન વિષ્ણુ સાથે આમળાના ઝાડની પૂજા કરવાંમાં આવે છે, માટે આ વ્રતને આમળા એકદાશી પણ કહેવાય છે. વ્રતના દિવસે આમળાનો ભોગ ચઢાવવામાં આવે છે અને ઝાડની પરિક્રમા કરી સુતરથી લપેટવામાં આવે છે. આ દિવસે વ્રત રાખી પૂજા કરતી સમયે આમલકી એકદાશી વ્રત કથા સાંભળે છે, જેનાથી વ્રતનું ફળ મળે છે.
