🌸 Gokul Vlog Part 02 – Exploring Purani Gokul
Chaurasi Khambha | Ukhal Bandhan | Brahmand Ghat | Raman Reti | Dauji Mandir
Radhe Radhe friends! This is Part 2 of my Gokul Yatra, where we explore the remaining half of Shri Krishna’s divine village – Purani Gokul (Old Gokul). In Part 01, we explored Nayi Gokul, and now we continue the journey to places where Bal Krishna performed many leelas in his early years.
🚕 Journey Begins: From Nayi Gokul to Purani Gokul
After completing our darshan of New Gokul, we sat in our taxi and reached Chaurasi Khambha Mandir, also known as Nand Baba Ka Ghar, located around 2 km from Nayi Gokul.
🔹 Raman Reti was on the way, but we planned it for later since it remains closed from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
🛕 On the Way to Chaurasi Khambha Mandir
As we walked through a narrow street, we passed several temples:
🔹 Krishna-Balram Namkaran Sthal
🔹 Pootna Moksh Sthali
🔹 Laxmi Narayan Mandir
🔹 Patal Devi Temple
🔹 Sakshi Gopal Mandir
🛐 Chaurasi Khambha Mandir – Nand Baba Ka Ghar
🔹 Famous for its 84 unique pillars, none of which are identical.
🔹 Believed to be Lord Krishna’s 5000-year-old house, where He lived for 11 years and 52 days.
🔹 Here you can see the four Yuga Stambhs – symbolizing Satyug, Treta, Dwapar & Kaliyug.
🔹 Spot for Krishna’s Chhati Pujan.
🔹 Visit the peaceful Yashoda Bhawan and Nand Baba Ki Baithak, where Janmashtami celebrations take place.
💞 Revati-Balram Mandir (Inside Chaurasi Khambha Premises)
🔹 Balram ji is worshipped here along with his consort Revati Maiya and his parents Nand Baba & Yashoda Maiya.
🔹 Married women offer bangles (chudi), bindi & sindoor to Revati Maiya for a blessed marriage.
🌳 Ukhal Bandhan Ashram
Just a short walk from Chaurasi Khambha, this place holds deep significance:
🔹 Yamuna Mata Temple at the entrance.
🔹 Inside, you’ll find Nand Baba’s Temple and the site where Lord Krishna was tied to a mortar (Ukhal).
🔹 This is the spot of the famous Yamalarjun Moksh Leela, where He freed two cursed demigods.
🔹 You can also do darshan of the original 5000-year-old Ukhal!
🌌 Brahmand Ghat – Krishna Shows Universe
🔹 The divine spot where Little Krishna ate mud and revealed the entire cosmos inside His mouth to Yashoda Maiya.
🔹 Take a dip in the holy Yamuna River or enjoy a boat ride.
🔹 Visit Brahmand Bihari Ji Temple, where sand peda is offered as prasad.
🔱 Chintaharan Ghat
🔹 Visit Chintaharan Mahadev Mandir.
🔹 This is where Lord Shiva relieved Yashoda Maiya’s anxiety after the Brahmand Darshan incident.
🙏 Dauji Mandir – Baldev Village (9–10 km from Gokul)
🔹 This is the temple of Lord Balram, Krishna’s elder brother, worshipped here as Dauji Maharaj.
🔹 His wife Revati Maiya’s idol is placed slightly apart, depicting a divine disagreement.
🔹 The temple opens at 4:00 PM, and we were blessed to have darshan.
🌿 Raman Reti Ashram – A Peaceful End to the Day
Opposite the ashram is a Deer Park and the Samadhi of Raskhan, a famous Krishna devotee.
Inside the Ashram:
🔹 Raman Bihari Ji’s Temple
🔹 Navgrah Temple & Shiv Mandir
🔹 A peaceful sand courtyard believed to be played on by Lord Krishna himself
🔹 We witnessed the Evening Aarti with an elephant – truly magical!
🔹 Kids and even elders enjoyed playing in the holy sands.
