Welcome to our spiritual journey to Kedarnath Dham — one of the most sacred Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva nestled deep in the lap of the Himalayas.
In this vlog, we take you along with us as we begin our trek towards divine peace and physical endurance.
🌄 Our Journey in Detail:
• We started our day early at 6:00 AM from Hotel Prabhat & Restaurant, Narayan Koti, Guptkashi, which is located just 24 km from Sonprayag — the last motorable stop before the trek.
• Due to traffic congestion on the hilly roads, we reached Sonprayag at 8:30 AM.
• 🚗 We parked our car at the Sonprayag Parking, which cost us ₹120 for 12 hours. The parking area was crowded but organized.
• 📲 After scanning our biometric registration at Sonprayag, we took a shared taxi to Gaurikund, the official starting point of the trek. Taxi fare was ₹50 per person.
• 🥾 At Gaurikund, we began our 22 KM uphill trek to Kedarnath — an experience filled with challenges, emotions, and breathtaking beauty.
🌧️ Challenges We Faced:
• The weather turned against us and we were caught in heavy rain during the trek, making the narrow, slippery paths even more difficult.
• A major struggle was sharing the already narrow trekking path with horses, mules, palanquins (palkis), and bucket carriers who often pushed or brushed past us with no alternate path. It was frustrating and, at times, dangerous.
• The constant need to stay alert made the journey mentally exhausting, especially in rain and on uneven, steep terrain.
🧘♂️ Physical & Emotional Test:
• None of us had ever attempted such a tough trek in our lives. It truly tested our patience, strength, and willpower.
• What kept us going was faith in Lord Shiva and the breathtaking surroundings.
• The government has made commendable arrangements: toilets, food stalls, shelters, medical points, and resting spaces at regular intervals made it easier for all kinds of pilgrims.
🏔️ Nature’s Magic:
• On our way, we witnessed the magnificent Himalayan ranges, serene waterfalls, flowing rivers, and mist-covered valleys.
• Despite all hardships, these moments of natural beauty and divine silence made us pause and feel connected to something far greater.
👨👩👧👦 Our Group Experience:
• We were a group of 11 people, and by Lord Shiva’s grace, everyone reached safely.
• A special mention to my mother (70 years old) and mother-in-law (65 years old) — both of them completed this trek with pure determination and devotion. Truly inspiring!
⛺ Base Camp Arrival:
• After 13 long hours of trekking, we finally reached the Gauri Base Camp near Kedarnath at 12:00 AM (midnight) — cold, soaked, exhausted, but filled with joy and gratitude.
• That moment when we saw the light of Kedarnath Temple in the distance was truly unforgettable — a dream come true.
• We rested overnight at the base camp to prepare for darshan the next morning.
