पिछले छह साल में यानी जब से जम्मू कश्मीर से अनुच्छेद ३७० और ३५-ए हटा है प्रदेश में बहुत विकास हुआ है । शांति क़ायम हुई है। क़ानून व्यवस्था में सुधार हुआ है । नतीजा यह हुआ कि पर्यटकों की बाढ़ आ गई। फ़िल्मों की शूटिंग होने लगी। चौक चौराहों पर लोग धड़ल्ले से घूमने लगे। पाकिस्तान में बेचैनी बढ़ने लगी। पर साथ ही कश्मीरी मुसलमानों में भी बैचैनी बढ़ने लगी । इतना सब होने के बावजूद घाटी में आतंकवादियों के समर्थकों की संख्या में कमी नहीं आई। बस भारत सरकार, सुरक्षा एजेंसियों और सेना का खुला विरोध बंद हो गया। अंदर से घाटी के मुसलमान अब भी पाकिस्तान समर्थक हैं। मुख्यमंत्री उमर अब्दुल्ला भी वर्तमान परिस्थिति में सहज महसूस नहीं कर रहे हैं।
