প্লাস্টিক বর্জ্যের ভয়াবহতা নিয়ে আতঙ্কিত পুরো বিশ্ব। বিভিন্ন দেশে প্রতিনিয়ত চলছে এর বিকল্প তৈরির গবেষণা। এরই ধারাবাহিকতায় আলু থেকে স্বচ্ছ ব্যাগ তৈরি করলেন বাংলাদেশি গবেষক, মাহবুব সুমন। দেশিয় পরিবেশবান্ধব কেমিকেলে তৈরি 'পলকা' নামের পণ্যটি, সহজেই হয়ে উঠতে পারে পলিথিনের বিকল্প। সরকারি পৃষ্ঠপোষকতা পেলে পলকা, দূষণ কমানোর পাশাপাশি অর্থনীতিতে বিশেষ অবদান রাখতে পারে বলে মনে করছেন পরিবেশবিদরা।
