یونس علیه‌السّلام از پیامبران بنی اسرائیل است كه بعد از سلیمان مبعوث شد و بعضی او را از فرزندان ابراهیم علیه‌السّلام دانسته‌اند، و به خاطر این‌كه در شكم ماهی قرار گرفت، با لقب «ذو النّون» و «صاحب الحوت» خوانده می‌شد.
