He founded the Academy in Athens, one of the earliest institutions of higher learning in the Western world. Plato is renowned for his dialogues, which explore topics such as ethics, politics, metaphysics, and epistemology. His works, including *The Republic*, *The Symposium*, and *The Allegory of the Cave*, emphasize the importance of reason, justice, and the pursuit of truth, profoundly shaping Western philosophy and thought.
