তারেক রহমান তখন বিএনপির সিনিয়র যুগ্ম মহাসচিব। আত্মীয়তার সম্পর্কে তিনি ছিলেন তারেক রহমানের মামা। তারেক রহমানের আপন মামা সাঈদ ইস্কান্দারের ভায়রা, সেই সুবাদে মামা। বলছি লে. জেনারেল (অব.) মাসুদ উদ্দিন চৌধুরীর কথা। অভিযোগ আছে, ওয়ান ইলেভেনের সময় ভাগ্নে তারেক রহমানের উপর দৈহিক নির্যাতনের অন্যতম হোতা ছিলেন মামা লে. জেনারেল মাসুদ উদ্দিন চৌধুরী। সেকথা বলার আগে সংক্ষেপে জানিয়ে দেই ওয়ান ইলেভেনের ঘটনা।
