Sheelam’s story is one of domestic violence, abuse, and resilience. Her experience reveals how a woman had to endure both physical and emotional abuse at the hands of her in-laws. After her marriage, her husband and in-laws subjected her to constant mistreatment, disregarding her emotions, and even resorting to physical violence. Her situation worsened to the point where, even during her pregnancy, she received no care or support from her family.
Sheelam endured not only the physical pain but also the emotional trauma, especially when her husband refused to accept their son as his own. Throughout this period, her brothers and mother supported her, but her in-laws continued to taunt and mistreat her.
In 2015, when she and her two-year-old son were thrown out of the house, Sheelam, with her family’s support, decided never to return. She took legal action and made the brave choice to start over, taking full responsibility for her son.
Sheelam’s struggle is a testament to her strength and determination. Despite facing such extreme challenges, she did not give up. Her story serves as an inspiration for many women who suffer from domestic violence, reminding them that it is important to stand up for their rights and seek justice.
