Advice for Virgin Burners..
Some popular BM themes you may want to prepare for
Tutu’s for Tutu Tuesday
White for the temple - if you want you can bring a poem or prepare something written to offer at the temple. something you want to let go of from your past or a picture of someone who passed that youd like to honor. The temple is a very special and emotional space - its good to go there emotionally prepared.
Red or fire – inspired for Burn night
Finding your own style: I’ve kind of just thought about who I would have been in a past life and tailored my style to that. Its not so much “Costumes” as it is finding your own creative style . Always be sure that any outfit you put together can be worn easily on the bike and go to the bathroom in port a potties. You don't want to have anything hanging or touching the ground… eww. (its super HOT) or short skirts- things that wont get caught in your bike
Avoid hats or things that you wear on your head because most of the time you’ll have goggles and a scarf on.
IMPORTANT Avoid- sequins, feathers, glitter or anything that can fall off- Burners take the “leave no trace” very seriously and in our camp you wont be invited you back If your outfits leave moop or anything on the ground – even glitter. Or especially glitter bc its hard to pick up and we have to leave our camp spotless – literally.
***Please get rid of any extra packaging before you come into Burning man because we are responsible for ALL of our garbage.
Goggles: A few diff Goggles for day and goggles for night- Clear lens for night and yellow or pink lens for day. should fit your face tightly so dust doesn't get inside
A Bike with light so you can see where your driving at night + bike décor/ flair - so you can easily find it among the sea of other bikes there. If you don’t keep them lubed they’ll break.
Backpack
Good strong Headlamps- batteries.
Face mask or scarf of light material to cover your face in the dust to be worn almost all of the time for unpredictable dust storms
Jacket / Warm Coats – A few good warm jacket for at night and layers. Leggings are great for at night.
Store clothes in zip block bags- if you can be organized enough to know what you’re going to wear each day, put them into their own bag and just grab the day you want.
Shoes: Be sure to have Comfortable boots / shoes that you can wear all day and all night - they will get wrecked so don’t bring anything expensive
The Basics:

Don’t bring anything to be you’re not willing to lose including relationships and your life!
Your Hair- I recommend getting braids or have it styled the way you want to wear it for 5 or 6 days. I use the dust at BM as a dry shampoo and it gives me crazy volume and absorbs the sweat . Its weird, the PH of the dust is alkaline and it makes you not have Body odor. TMI I know but kinda cool when you’ll probably only shower 2-3 times if your lucky.
I like to pre pack all my favorite outfits in plastic bags so that I can find stuff and be quick getting ready. This helps a lot since my wardrobe can get crazy if I just try to wing it.
Yeeeiiiii so glad your coming!! Cant wait to dance in the dust❤️
