Escaping the traffic jam during Golden Week, I arrived at my parents' house in Ibaraki Prefecture, a 2-hour drive from Tokyo. I used to think that this place was boring and had nothing to offer when I was younger, but now I realize that it's a place full of joy and excitement. I was always seeking something far away, but it turns out that what I was looking for was right here, close to home.
The storage shed at my parents' house is still filled with junk, but I stumbled upon my mother's old magazines and they reminded me of the times when we used to talk about fashion. It brings back nostalgic memories.
May is the season for rice planting. The flooded rice fields make houses appear as if they are floating in a lake. I love this sight, so I went for an evening stroll. I could hear the chorus of frogs, signaling the beginning of summer.
