প্রত্যক্ষ বা পরোক্ষভাবে যেকোনো সময় যেকোনো দেশ জড়িয়ে পড়তে পারে যুদ্ধে। এই অবস্থায় সামরিক শক্তি ক্রমশ বাড়িয়ে চলছে পৃথিবীর বিভিন্ন দেশ। সুইডেন-ভিত্তিক গবেষণা সংস্থা এসআইপিআরআই'র সবশেষ তথ্য অনুযায়ী, ২০২৩ সালের শুরু দিকে বিশ্বের নয়টি দেশের কাছে প্রায় ১২ হাজার ৫১২টি পারমাণবিক অস্ত্র আছে। দেশগুলো হলো- যুক্তরাষ্ট্র, রাশিয়া, যুক্তরাজ্য, ফ্রান্স, চীন, ভারত, পাকিস্তান, উত্তর কোরিয়া এবং ইসরায়েল। তার মানে ক্রমশ ভয়ঙ্কর হয়ে উঠছে বিশ্ব।
বিশ্বের কোন দেশ সামরিক দিকে থেকে কতটা শক্তিশালী তা নিয়ে কাজ করে GFP বা গ্লোবাল ফায়ার পাওয়ার। তারা বিশ্বের ১৪৬টি দেশের সৈন্য সংখ্যা, সামরিক সরঞ্জাম, সমরাস্ত্র তৈরির সক্ষমতা, আর্থিক স্থিতিশীলতা, ভৌগলিক অবস্থান, বিভিন্ন সামরিক জোটে ভূমিকা ইত্যাদিসহ মোট 60 টির বেশি সূচক বিবেচনা করে বিশ্বের বিশ্বের ১০টি সামরিক শক্তিকে এগিয়ে থাকা দেশের তালিকা প্রকাশ করেছে। যা নিয়ে গত গত ১৮ আগস্ট প্রতিবেদন করেছে ফোর্বস ম্যাগাজিন। অবাক ব্যাপার হচ্ছে, অনেক হম্বিতম্বি করা ইরান কিংবা ইসরায়েল কিন্তু শীর্ষ দশে নেই!
