In the video I file down the spine to make the knife compatible with ferro rods and fire steel. Then I force a patina on the carbon steel blade to protect against rust. Finally, I take the knife out to the ranch to test a series of classic bushcraft tasks: batoning, scraping tinder, shaving feather sticks, throwing sparks with a ferro rod, and slicing/food prep.
I bought this knife on a whim - I already owned several Moras (stainless). But I always wanted to try a carbon steel Mora, and when I saw it on the shelf at my local Walmart, I couldn't pass it up.
After testing in the field, I honestly like this thing as much as my Morakniv Bushcraft model, primarily because of the 511's reduced weight and superior slicing/food prep capabilities.
