1. Allow emotions to be a topic of conversation. Ask about emotions.
2. Expand your vocabulary of emotion words.
3. Learn to focus on your own bodily sensations and identify those bodily sensations with specific emotions.
4. Acknowledge to yourself and others that you are a person who has an inner emotional life.
5. Show vulnerability. Admit fault and acknowledge fear, uncertainty, and insecurity.
6. Get psychotherapy.
7. Learn empathic responding.
8. Avoid problem solving.
9. Address addictions which cut you off from your own emotional experience.
