丹波守吉道には京都で作刀した「京丹波」と大阪で作刀した「大阪丹波」の２派がありますが、作風はいずれも同様です。
本作は大阪丹波となりますが、大阪初代は京丹波初代の次男で、大阪に移住して大阪丹波の祖となり代々大いに栄える基礎を築きました。
刃文に独特な風情があり、あたかも簾のように見えることから「簾刃」と呼ばれています。
Tanbanokami Yoshimichi had two branches: the "Kyo-Tanba" branch, which crafted swords in Kyoto, and the "Osaka Tanba" branch, which operated in Osaka.
However, their styles were similar.
This piece belongs to the Osaka Tanba branch.
The 1st gen in Osaka was the 2nd son of the 1st gen in Kyoto.
After relocating to Osaka, he became the founder of the Osaka Tanba branch and laid the foundation for its prosperity for generations to come.
The unique appearance of the blade pattern, resembling a bamboo blind, is why it's called "Sudareba" (bamboo blind blade).
