In September I hiked across the Scandinavian mountain range in 12 days. I began in Sweden's Padjelanta National Park and finished in Rago National Park in Norway. Both parks are part of the largest protected wilderness of continental Europe, which also includes the adjacent Sarek National Park and Stora Sjöfallets National Park.
Padjelanta is regarded as the most remote wilderness of Scandinavia, because it includes a point that is further away from the nearest road (47km) than any other point in Scandinavia (The only place in Europe where more remote places can be found are the northern regions of Russia).
