This video is how I make my weekly batch of wet food for my 9 cats.
it is inspired by vet Dr Lisa Pierson's recipe which is listed on her blog https://catinfo.org/making-cat-food/

When a cat has chronic diarrhea and you visit the vet, most if not all vets will tell you it's IBD. In Billy's case, he suffered from chronic diarrhea for 3 years and nothing I did worked. Finally, my vet told me to go to a hospital to get an ultrasound done to check if it's IBD but the doctor in the hospital refused to scan and told me it's not necessary as it sounds 100% like IBD. Hence, he said the only way is to treat Billy with steroids (prednisolone) for life and prescription kibbles.

Now, I believe most vets will do the same as that is how they were trained. To push drugs and dry food. All of them will never say let's cut away kibbles and go with just wet food instead. Never.

But before you feed steroids to your cat, try the homemade wet food route first. It is worth a try. It may solve the chronic diarrhea/IBD. Don't have blind faith on your vet - educate yourself and know the risks of steroids. If the homemade wet food did not improve the diarrhea after 3 months, then go ahead and follow the vet's advise but never feed steroids to your cat for life. 7 days, then taper off and observe would be a better choice.

**Why do I say steroids can kill your cat (even dogs) eventually in the video?**
Prednisolone is a cortisol steroid. It represses one's immune system which naturally produces the hormone cortisol (via the adrenal glands) and replaces it with synthetic cortisol, which is more potent. Prolonged used of prednisolone will eventually signal to the adrenal glands not to make cortisol naturally anymore and just rely on the steroid's cortisol. This is why animals almost die once they are taken off cortisol because their adrenal glands stopped making cortisol. And every being (this includes humans) needs a moderate amount of cortisol hormone to function. This was evident in my friend's cat who was on prednisolone for a long time, years and my brother's dog who was on the same for more than half a year. When their vets tried to wean them off prednisolone, both almost died and had to go back on the drug. While on it, they got sicker and sicker due to having a suppressed immune system and the evil vets kept pushing the dosage higher and higher to fight whatever health issues. Eventually, both met their untimely demise.

**Why did I not follow Dr Lisa Pierson's recipe 100%?**
1. I do not like to handle semi raw food, I prefer to cook for the sake of my own sanity. I have 9 cats, I do not wish to worry about 9 cats not liking their food, $ wastage and bacteria poisoning due to living in a tropical country

2. I did not include few ingredients that Dr Pierson adds into hers - taurine, vit E and fish oil. I feed them snacks in between breakfast and dinner. It is air dried chicken and fish chunks from Pledgecare which has vit E and fish oil added. So I feel it is enough, no need to add into my wet food. In any case, the vit E that Dr Pierson recommends is a synthetic vit E, which I do not agree with. The Pledgecare air fried food has natural vitamin E which is not the best grade, but better than synthetic vit E.
As for taurine, I honestly don't know why Dr Pierson has to add that because taurine is abundant in chicken. Do the cats need additional taurine? Dr Pierson never explained. But I see this as not necessary for now. Bear in mind that synthetic supplements are never 100% great and that China is the world's largest manufacturer of vitamins and trace minerals. Most if not all health companies will get their vitamins from China and say that it is made in USA/Canada/Australia/NZ/UK, etc. Technically, it's not lying, they just do not say where they get their raw materials from. Anything that is from China, well I do not want to simply just add into the food unless really necessary. Since taurine is abundant in chicken meat, I'll skip synthetic taurine and just focus on ensuring that the cats get the fish oil, vit E and B complex.
