This time, I played a slap bass solo at a slow tempo.
I chose one of the most famous and technically challenging slap bass solos—Marcus Miller’s “Run for Cover”—and played it at a reduced speed.
There are already many videos of this bass solo, but I wanted to showcase how “It still sounds cool even when played slowly!”
This solo is so well-constructed that it remains groovy and expressive even at a slow tempo.
If you understand this concept, you’ll realize that you don’t need to play fast to create an awesome solo.
My students are also practicing this piece step by step.
