In this video, I share how to create a simple yet beautiful pleated fabric lampshade using just a hot glue tool and your fabric of choice—no sewing machine required! This technique is perfect for adding a touch of charm and character to any room. * How to Make a Pleated Fabric Lampshade Without a Sewing Machine* 1 - Prepare the Fabric: Measure the height of your lampshade and cut a strip of fabric, adding 6 cm (2.4 inches) to the height for overlap. The length of the fabric strip depends on the diameter of your lampshade and the tightness of your pleats, so you’ll need several meters of fabric. 2 - Attach the Fabric to the Lampshade Frame: Using a hot glue tool, place a small dot of glue on both the top and bottom rings of the lampshade frame. Attach the starting edge of your fabric strip to these glue points. 3 - Create the Pleats: By hand, fold the fabric to create a pleat along the height of the lampshade. Add a dot of glue to the top and bottom rings of the frame to secure the pleat in place. Repeat this step, pleat by pleat, until the entire lampshade is covered. 4 - Finish the Fabric: Once you reach the end, trim any excess fabric. Tuck in the raw edge to create a final pleat, and glue it in place for a neat finish. 5 - Add a Fabric Trim to the Top and Bottom: Cut the excess fabric at the top and bottom of the lampshade Cut two strips of fabric, each 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide. One should match the circumference of the top ring of the shade, and the other the bottom ring, allowing extra length to tuck in the ends neatly. Alternatively, you can use bias tape strips. Glue the fabric strips right side down along the top and bottom edges of the lampshade. Roll the strips up and over the frame, securing them on the inside of the shade with glue for a polished look. And that’s it! You now have a beautiful pleated fabric lampshade to brighten up your space. Thank you for joining me on this slow and peaceful journey. I hope it inspires you to create your own moments of joy and savor the simple pleasures of life.
