国道145号は群馬県吾妻郡長野原町（羽根尾交差点 =国道144・145・146号の三起点）から群馬県沼田市（下川田町交差点 = 国道17号交点、国道120号終点）に至る一般国道です。東京方面から草津温泉へ旅行する際に関越道から先の一般道を走る際によく使われる道だと思います。いろいろな意味で有名になった八ッ場ダム沿線を走るというか八ッ場ダム建設に伴い国道145号の一部がダム湖（八ッ場あがつま湖）に水没し分断されることとなり新たにバイパス道が設けられた路線です。既に旧道部分は供用廃止済みなので映像はバイパス側を通行しています。
全線が日本ロマンチック街道の一部となっており、なかなか景観の良い道路です。
■日本ロマンチック街道について
その景観が自然環境がドイツのそれに近いということでドイツのロマンチック街道に因んで命名され1987年に誕生した長野・群馬・栃木三県の一般道路を割り当てた合計320kmの区間を指します。1988年にはドイツロマンチック街道と姉妹街道の締結がされドイツのロマンチック街道の標識には日本語も併記されています。

Route 145 is a general national highway that runs from Naganohara-machi, Agatsuma-gun, Gunma Prefecture to Numata City, Gunma Prefecture. I think it is a road that is often used when traveling from the Tokyo area to Kusatsu Onsen on the general road from the Kanetsu Expressway. It runs along the Yamba Dam, which has become famous in many ways, or rather, it is a route where a part of Route 145 was submerged in the dam lake (Lake Yamba-Agatsuma) and divided due to the construction of the Yamba Dam, and a new bypass road was established. The old road has already been taken out of service, so the video shows the bypass side.
The entire route is part of the Romantic Road of Japan, which is quite scenic.

The Romantic Road of Japan was named after the Romantic Road of Germany because its scenery and natural environment is similar to that of Germany, and was established in 1987.
In 1988, a sister road agreement was concluded with the German Romantic Road, and the signs for the German Romantic Road are written in Japanese as well.
