9月，一场时装大秀首次公开了位于深圳北部的一座神秘异形建筑。由新西兰建筑事务所Architect van Branderburg 整整打磨15年的玛丝菲尔大厦终于以真面目示人: 匍匐飞跃的姿态占据着4万平方米面积用地，设计工作室与T台展示场以长形的体态对称分列在入口中庭的两侧，仿鸟的羽翼蓝色鳞片状玻璃折射出光芒。而这样的特别造型也只是人们了解它的一个开始，进入其内部才不禁为它的工匠坚守和“反效率”实践而发出感叹。

This September, a fashion show has unveiled a miraculous landmark in Shenzhen with all its mysteries and wonders.

Marisfrolg Campus, a fashion headquarters thoughtfully curated by New Zealand firm Architect van Branderburg and taking 15 years to build, has finally presented itself to the public: encompassing 40,000 square meters in the postures of a bird in flight, with Atrium Design studios and Fashion Catwalk venues built in sprawling structures that show balanced symmetry on both sides of the Atrium entrance, where the blue scaly glass resembling the bird’s wings shines blazing light. Such eccentricity in form is the starting point for understanding what it holds, and stepping into its interior leads to an awe-inspiring discovery of a relentless commitment to craftsmanship and "anti-efficiency" practice.

In the first episode of Searching for Pioneers 2023, AD China went to Shenzhen to witness the birth and growth of this massive complex: traditional roots, reflections on the present and visions of future uncertainties intertwine in creating new possibilities of architecture.
