Movies drift out of the modern zeitgeist all the time, and no genre feels this more than the classic Western. By now, it's well-trodden ground, and any filmmaker daring to saddle up better have something fresh to say. But that doesn't mean the old guard should be dismissed. Plenty of classic Westerns still hit as hard as they did back in their heyday — gritty, timeless reminders of where the genre (and we) have been.
