During a Post Season Scouting video Joe and I did last April in Michigan we saw some treetops a few hundred yards in front of us while wading through a marshy area interspersed with cattails and brush. As we approached we were pleasantly surprised to find a 30 yard wide area of high ground with several white and red oaks on it. The shocker was it was in the middle of a huge swampy area with water deep enough in spots to require hip boots. We marked it on OnX and I went back during the early season for an all day sit. Unfortunately none of the trees produced acorns last fall so the hunt was a bust. Who knows what they will have in 2021, but I will find out as I plan on going back. A small dry oak island in the middle of a large marsh is a very rare find.
