For the love of the Irish cottage, we have preserved this old cottage over 20 years now. We continue to address the continuing problems and offer solutions to our clients on how to deal with rising damp in old cottages.
In this video we walk through the products that can be used to fix damp rising. With the help from Quigley Preservation Ltd, we have successfully damp proofed our 1930's Fishermans Cottage.
For remedial damp-proofing / waterproofing, the rising damp in older buildings due to the lack of or breakdown of existing DPC's and often penetrating dampness from higher external ground levels leads us to a number of tried and tested methods for dealing with damp.
1. Tanking of walls using HEY'DI K11 Flex and HEY'DI Special System
2. DPC injection using WYKAMOL Ultracure DPC Cream
3. Electro Osmotic damp-proofing using the LECTROS SYSTEM
4. Ventilated lining membrane using WYKAMOL CM8
The main goal here is to protect the building from the ongoing stress and exposed elements and ensuring the facades are waterproofed. Stone or brick facades where exposed to the elements can be sealed using HEY'DI KIESLEY Cream, a silane based clear facade waterproofer. Siliane based creams are deeper penetrating and therefore can last up to 12 years where exposed to UV rays.
With sealing of joints/cracks in concrete, these can be sealed by pressure injection method using NORMET TAMPUR 130, a single shot hydrophobic polyurethane sealant. Often, the areas would also be tanked using HEY'DI subsequent to the pressure injection works.
