The 4wd gearbox was created for the first time in the world by the American 'John Noth Willys' MB, which was the result of a systematic evolution of the car that was created at the testing level. The 'CJ2a' jeep was created based on the Second World War in 1944. It was designed to be able to be moved from place to place with a total weight of 1113kg with the engine and all the parts could be packed in a small box.
After the end of the war, these jeeps were sold to different countries of the world. These 4wd jeeps were used to travel on very difficult roads located in the areas where tea rubber industries were established after the colonial period.
Later this jeep was not in a condition suitable for driving. When I bought it, I had a great desire to fix it. It took more than 20 years of patience and perseverance to make the necessary changes to the dilapidated jeep and create it in its current condition.
Among the changes I have made here, I have used a 3 inch coil spring and matching shocks instead of springs. As 33,35 tires were required to be used, the mudguard boxes were cut to the required shape.
A special dashboard panel is installed on the upper part of the glass frame to reduce the damage caused to the switch, fuse, relay, meter etc. in case of mud and water entering the vehicle.
There were several people who helped to make this design successful, Ravindra Rathnasiri, our Patrol Masters traveling with us and 'Susanta Malli' who did all the tinkering work and mechanism work, and 'Harsha Kumar of LHK Electrical' (Raju Malli) who did all the wiring. I would like to thank everyone including 'Lal Malli' in Tholangamuwa garage and 'Srinath Malli' in Delgamuwa.
