Today we have a big Healey that the owner has had for over 20 years, but has never driven, nor even had running before (as far as he can remember). But now that he’s 81, he wants to be able to finally drive it and have some fun with it before it’s too late. So he’s working with his neighbor to handle the body and paint, and wants us to pull and rebuild the engine since he’s assuming it will need it after sitting for all those years. But will he really need to do a full rebuild and spend all that money on the engine or can we help him out by just refreshing it with new gaskets and going through the carbs so that he can put that extra money towards the body? We’re going to take a closer look before we just pull the engine out and tear it down. We’ll try to crank it over, do a compression test, and attempt to get it running first to determine the health of the engine to see if it really does need rebuilt.
