1966 Sebring 12 Hour Grand Prix of Endurance review.
After the 1-2-3 victory for ford in the 24 hour daytona race the american team landed up on Sebring, Florida for the second race, according to the plan the "rabbits" should be Dan Gurney / Jerry Grant n°2 Ford Mk2 and Graham Hill / Jackie Stewart in n°24 Ford GT40.
At the beginning Hill did a great start taking 2nd place and then 1st as he overtaked the slower dino-ferrari that was in front, Gurney on the other hand got stalled at the starting line and lose lot of time until he set off, however making an incredible comeback and taking first position before giving his car to his teammate, Ken Miles / Lloyd Ruby also overtook the Mike Parkes / Bob Bondurant Ferrari 330 and by the night the fords were in top 3 again with the ferrari retiring for gearbox-transmission trouble.
Everybody was expecting Dan Gurney to take the checkered flag first, but his engine fail at the last lap and Miles got first, Gurney push his car and was disqualified for that, ironically, if he hadn't he would have gotten second place for distance traveled.
But in the end it was another victory for Ford that would finish with the famous and polemic 1-2-3 at le mans in June 1966
