$150,000 PAT BOONE OPEN
Bradley Bowl, Windsor Locks, Conn., Apr 8-13, 1985
Windsor Locks Is "Boone" For Williams

Through the first four frames of the title game In the $150,000 Pat Boone Open a huge crowd cheered on local favorite John Kirker, but in the end it was Mark Williams, who held off Kirker's gallant title bid with a 245-185 triumph.

Top-seeded Kirker waited until Williams, Gary Skidmore, Jim Miller and veteran Dave Soutar battled through the first three games. Soutar left five 10-pins en route to a 193-185 loss to Miller. Miller then ran into Williams, and lost, 215-181, and Williams had to come from behind to top Skidmore in the semifinal game, 203-160.

With the hometown crowd cheering his every move, Kirker made a run at the title only briefly. He opened with a three-bagger, Williams responded with four strikes and Kirker then suffered two splits and a miss in three of the next four frames. Williams coasted in the winner.
