In this video we will repair a sticky, sluggish or even dead power door lock actuator solenoid in the front door of an old body style (OBD) GMT400 style SUV truck. The drivers side is shown, but the procedure is _exactly_ the same for the passenger side as well. The back row doors use the same GM part numbers and mounting style, but the disassembly of the door trim and hardware is going to be somewhat different. I've linked a different one of my videos that covers the rear door power lock actuator replacement for you as a upper right corner circle "i" button you can tap inside this video. There is one part number for the LH (drivers) side and one for the RH (passenger) side regardless of being front or back door locks.
What will typically happen when these 1990s OBS truck actuators go out is the doors will not lock or unlock reliably in cold weather. Eventually they will stop working altogether, even when the temperature warms up. It's a fairly easy repair to replace one, taking about 30 minutes if you have all the tools and parts handy before you begin. The vehicle shown is a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban LT, but this repair is applicable to all 92 93 94 95 96 97 98 99 and some early carry over 2000 old body style (OBS) model Tahoe, Yukon, Suburban, and Escalade sport utility vehicles SUV from Chevrolet Cadillac GMC and Holden.
