Nomura Orimono is a workshop located in Hirokawa-cho, Yame-gun, Fukuoka Prefecture that continues to preserve the tradition of Kurume Kasuri. Kurume Kasuri has a history of over 200 years, and the Kasuri patterns are created by hand by skilled craftsmen. Using the Kasuri technique, the threads are dyed first and then woven, creating a unique faded pattern and deep colors. While valuing tradition, Nomura Orimono incorporates designs that meet modern needs and develops a wide range of products, including kimonos, obi belts, and interior decorations. It is a pride of traditional crafts, where the skills and passion of craftsmen live on.
Kurume Kasuri was recognized as a national important intangible cultural property in 1974.
