2001 Yamaha Raptor 660R restoration - process video

Update: Jan 2021 - This was suppose to be a budget restoration, but that didn't happen, the farther I dug in, the farther I got pulled in - figuring "well, while I'm here let's do this or that". I know I said that this was 100% complete, but I've since made some changes. I will post a second video outlining the changes.

I made this video from a bunch of photos and videos I had made during the restoration. I didn't intend on putting it on YouTube, so I didn't really make a lot or have in great detail the things I did.

I was taking a gamble that the transmission shifted fine from the previous owners, so I didn't split the cases, and the connecting rod had no axial play and was within tolerance for the side play.

Here is a small list of parts.
Dash Computer: Trail Tech Vapour ATV kit
Wheels: OEM - powder coated satin black
Tires: GBC XC Masters
Axle: Dura Blue eliminator 2+2 axle
Airbox: Blingracing
Air filter: K&N
Exhaust: FMF powerbomb header, HMF slip on with spark arrestor and quiet core
Needles: GYTR
Front shocks: ‘12 Raptor 700r, please see other videos for that modification
Shifter: IMS direct
Chassis Skid plate: GYTR aluminum
Reverse switch: repaired with a steel plate
Mix of new OEM and Pivot Works/All Balls bushings and bearings in all chassis components
new battery: yuasa
Paint: Top coat: Duplicolour - Honda Electron Blue

What I’ve done.
- rebuilt the top end with Wiseco forged 9.9:1 piston, with refurbished Yamaha cylinder that was bored out to 100.5mm.
- new Shindy valves, Yamaha springs, Wiseco timing chain
- new Yamaha oil pump,
- Rebuilt water pump,
- new Yamaha cylinder head bolts and gasket kit.
- new L&A starter clutch and gear
- new Yuasa battery
- Frame, Pegs, and A-arms were sanded and repainted - Honda Electron Blue
- All new mix of Yamaha and Pivot Works bearings and bushing all throughout the bike. Added grease fittings for swing arm bearings.
- Lower Steering bearing was replaced.
- All new All Balls tie rod assembly
- new lower ball joints
- new EBC RED brake pads
- new "used" OEM rear brake caliper and rebuilt master cylinder with Yamaha kit.
- New wheel and axle bearings
- lots of bolts and screws were replaced and bolt hole threads repaired with helicoil
- OEM rims powder coated Satin Black
- GBC XC master tires
- new DID O-Ring 520 chain
- new IMS direct shifter
- new oil supply hose
- New Headlight buckets
- New "used" OEM swing arm
- Carburetors - upgraded jets; Mikuni 27.5 pilots, 155/160 mains, GYTR needles 2nd clip down
- Trail Tech Vapour Dash computer - Speed, RPMs, Coolant temp, Air temp, Hours, ODO

Update: new rebuilt shocks - added 2012 Raptor 700R shocks - see my other videos for that mod.

I’m sure I’m forgetting some things - 2.5 months of rebuild time.
Almost all of the parts were shipped in from the US which costs more due to currency conversion, shipping and customs fees.
