शरद जोशी तथा के. पी. सक्सेना की कविसम्मेलनों और मुशायरों में हास्य-व्यंग्य गद्य-पाठ की परम्परा को आगे बढ़ाने वाला चर्चित नाम। कवि संपत सरल राजस्थान से आते हैं । संपत सरल एक हिंदी कवि और व्यंग्यकार हैं । उनका जन्म 8 अप्रैल , 1962 को राजस्थान के शेखावाटी में हुआ था । गांव शेखावाटी और जयपुर से पढ़ाई करने के बाद उन्होंने मास्टर ऑफ आर्ट्स ( हिंदी ) और बी.एड. राजस्थान विश्वविद्यालय से करी । वह हिंदी और राजस्थानी भाषाओं में लिखते हैं और उन्होंने " चाकी देख चुनाव की " , राजस्थानी कविता का संग्रह प्रकाशित किया है । सरल ने वीणा कैसेट के तहत कुछ ऑडियो और वीडियो एल्बम भी रिकॉर्ड किए हैं , और विभिन्न हिंदी टीवी धारावाहिकों के लिए गीत भी लिखे हैं । हास्य कवि संपत सरल एक गतिशील व्यक्तित्व है जिसमें हास्य की भावना पैदा होती है । वो अपनी कविता को विद्युतीकृत तरीके से शुरू करते है और धीरे - धीरे कवि सम्मेलन के वातावरण में ऊर्जा संचारित कर देते है ।
कविसम्मेलनों और मुशायरों में भागीदारी हेतु संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका, रूस, जापान, कनाडा, सऊदी अरब, सिंगापुर, हांगकांग, संयुक्त अरब अमीरात, थाईलैंड, ओमान, नेपाल की यात्राएं। थोड़े समय अध्यापन कार्य भी। अब पूर्णतः स्वतंत्र लेखन।
