The Jeep Renegade is one of the best all-around small crossovers on the market today, thanks to its excellent packaging, smart design inside and out, and an extremely capable all-wheel drive system. Now, it's important not to mistake the Renegade with the Jeep Patriot and Compass, which are both based on the old Dodge Caliber. Neither one is a very good crossover or a Jeep. The Renegade, however, wears its Jeep badge proudly and it rightfully deserves much praise.
Standard power comes from a capable 1.4-liter turbo four with 160 hp. The optional engine is a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter four with 180 hp. A six-speed manual is available but the majority of buyers opt for the nine-speed automatic.
