Steamrail Victoria's special tour, Farewell Broadway Broad Gauge celebrates the last visit to Wycheproof by a broad gauge steam locomotive, as the tracks are being converted to standard gauge. The special event coincides with the first ever visit by a N Class diesel locomotive to Wycheproof. The event was so successful that the main street of Wycheproof, known as Broadway, was closed at times to permit the thousands to enjoy the special event. Part 2 consists of the return trip from Wycheproof to Maryborough, being train #8196, powered by steam locomotive A2 986, with support locomotives T356 & N472 on the rear of the train. We capture the A2 receiving some supplies of coal & water in the Wycheproof grain siding. For the very last time, we capture a broad gauge steam train, being train #8196 powered by A2 986 enter 'Broadway' observed my many enthusiasts & locals. With the 400+ rail fans aboard, train #8196 slowly departs 'Broadway' on route to Melbourne.. We capture it at a number of trackside locations consisting of Teddywaddy, Buckrabanyule, Wedderburn Junction, Bullabul, Tarnagulla & Dunolly. Our last trackside capture is of it departing the 1:48 grade out of Maryborough, where the tour became train #8198 for the final leg to Melbourne.
