Anyone familiar with the crossover takeover likely won’t find it surprising that the Q5 outsells every other Audi. And anyone who knows the Q5 hasn’t seen many real changes since its 2009 debut should be happy to learn that it’s been completely re-designed for 2018. The new Q5 offers improved performance as well as more room and tech, making it a worthy competitor in the strong luxury crossover segment. We look forward to seeing whether the new version can overtake the Acura RDX and Lexus NX.
The new Q5 uses the same 2.0-liter turbo 4-cylinder Chris Wardlaw loved in the 2017 A4, which provides peak horsepower or torque across most of its rev range. Of course, the Q5 weighs more and rides higher than a sedan, but it still offers an enjoyable driving experience. All Q5s include standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and higher trims offer the attention-getting Audi Virtual Cockpit, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi connection, and a number of driver-assist and collision-prevention technologies.
